Andrew's 6th Birthday

Andrew had a great birthday. The day started with balloons and a very special breakfast - baked blueberry french toast. He got a new red bike for his birthday and loved it! I went to school with him for half the day. As requested I brought Subway for lunch and then stayed with him to enjoy a little classroom time and then helped out with treat time. Abigail is 10 months

Wow time is flying by. I can't believe that our little girl is 10 months old already! She is doing more everyday. She started saying "mamammama". I don't this she knows that is my name but it still is fun to hear her say something different than "dada". She started to walk along the couch, wall and anything that she can. In the last day or so she has been letting go and standing on her own for just a few seconds. It is only a matter of time until she is walkking.

Loves:
Music - any kind.
Dog and cat - loves to cluck at them.
Eating paper
Snuggling.

Dubuque Trip

Andrew was out of school for Thursday and Friday so we planned a trip to the Mississsippi River Museum and Waterpark in Dubuque, just me and him. Oh it was so wonderful to spend time with him. With Abigial around it is difficult to get really good quality time. We had a blast. We left early on Friday morning and drove to Dubuque, it was a pretty short road trip, just a little under 2 hrs. We started at the museum and learned about Indians and canoes, it was very cool and Andrew was very interested. We then learned about climate change, tides, watersheds and all about the wildlife of the Mississippi River. I was so surprised how interested Andrew was in hearing about different things and how much he retained after we left. We left a little after lunch time and went to check in at the hotel and waterpark. Luckily we were able to get a room and get our stuff in from the car. Then it was time to hit the waterpark. Even though we had been to the waterpark before Andrew did not remember it (he was only 2 at the time, so that makes sense ;)). We got right to it going down the purple and green slides. Andrew was a little fish when we were in the lazy river. I was lazy but he did a lot of swimming underwater with this goggles. Later in the afternoon Katherine and Sam met us. Andrew enjoyed showing Sam everything to do and Sam enjoyed watching him (as much as he could, the place is a bit overwhelming for a 2 year old). On Saturday we got up bright and early and enjoyed a big breakfast at the hotel before going down to do some more swimming. At the waterpark I tried out the biggest slide (that was really brave! if Nelson would have been there I would have left that for him) and it wasn't so bad after all. Andrew and I enjoyed going down many times. It wore me out climbing all the stairs, but not Andrew, he could have done it all day long. We checked out and had lunch at a nice coffee shop downtown and then headed home. We agreed that we had a great time but the next time we wanted Nelson and Abigail to join us. It was so sweet how Andrew talked about Abigail when we were gone and pointed out things that she would have liked. I loved spending time with him. He is so grown up.

Abigail is 9 Months!

Wow how time flies! I can't believe our little girl is 9 months old already! She is becoming so independent and doesn't seem like a little baby anymore.

She loves:
1. Playing with Andrew and watching what Andrew does
2. food - this girl loves to eat! her favorite is waffles and pancakes
3. standing up - she will pull up on anything that she can, she will be walking in no time
4. bath time - she loves to splash in the bathtub
5. toys - with anything and everything that Andrew has
6. the cats - she clicks her tongue to call Pumpkin now. She also knows Cocomo's name and will look for her when you say it
7. talking - lots of "dadaddadad" and laughter
8. peek-a-boo - she loves to play with us and Andrew.She will put something over her face and play or she will sneak around the footstool in the living room so that she can pop her head out at you, so cute!
9. rolling on the floor - she likes to climb on you and lay her head on you

We love her so much!

The Weekend is Here...Finally

After a crazy week I am glad that the weekend is here. We had a snow storm on Thursday night so Andrew had a snow day at home with Nelson on Friday. He was so excited. He went sledding and ice fishing and enjoyed just hanging out with Nelson. Unfortunately I went to work :( Oh well, next time I can stay home :) Abigail had a fun week. She is getting really close to walking, I just keep thinking any day now. She is also making a fun clacking noise with her tongue that she really likes to do. She is waving bye-bye now and likes to clap all the time. We don't have huge plans for the weekend. Andrew and Nelson are going to shoot their bows at the indoor shooting range and Abigail and I are going to hang out at home. Sounds relaxing!

A Great Weekend

We had a great weekend. Abigail enjoyed pulling up on everything in sight. She even pulls up on our pants legs, which is really funny. She also enjoyed climbing all over Andrew. In the bath she figured out what a cup was for and tried to drink out of it - unfortunately she choked :) a little too much water. Andrew and I enjoyed going swimming at the pool. He is becoming such a little fish now. He likes to wear his googles all the time, jump in the water and kick under water. He is getting better at coordinating his arms while swimming too. Andrew and Nelson went to shoot their bows on Saturday and had a great time together. Andrew swore that Abigail said his name :)

Blogging Again

I recently looked back at this blog and realized how much fun I had writing about Andrew and all our adventures. I think that I am going to start blogging again. Our life is a big adventure now with two kids. :) Although I post a lot of pictures on Facebook it will be more fun to be able to journal with some of the photos.
